Philippine Incompetence bared at Hostage Crisis

Not only did the Philippines get into the headlines by bungling a hostage crisis involving one gunman with 8 hostages dead out of 15, President Aquino was nowhere to be found for the duration of the crisis. He did not even appear to say "we are doing everything we can, the police are keeping me up to date non-stop, etc...etc...! The governor of Hongkong couldn't get hold of him. Is this the President with the biggest communications department? I guess it is too big to work. This is a President that does not want to stay at Malacanang, not because he wants to be seen humble, but because he only wants to work from 9 to 5. Will somebody tell him that even the CEO's of major multi-billion multinationals do not work 9 to 5 anymore? He is running a third world with high poverty rate, famous for corruption and lowly-regarded by the world. Nobody wants to invest because of red tape and bribery. Nobody wants to come because of the lack of law and order, as was just demonstrated. Didn't the police ask how to open the door of the bus before storming it? We all know that those buses have a button outside that drivers push to close when they step out. I am sure it is the same button to open it.

And please, tourism is not an issue you talk about at a time like this.

Then, when he made a statement, he seemed to be smiling. Is the fake psycho report on him becoming true? Is he a sociopath, somebody unable to feel the suffering of others?

He then said that this things happen in Russia and they have better equipment and said "the casualties are more severe."
A blogger looked it up and compared the incidents.

what happened in Russia, in Beslan, and in Dubrovka Theater Moscow.

Beslan, from wiki
hostage = 1200 hostages terrorists = 32 total death of hostages =334 (if include special force and “others” 354) , total injured hostages = 783 (including special force) death - 30% of total hostages

Dubrovka Theater Moscow, from wiki
hostage = 850-900 hostages terrorists = 33(+) total death of hostages =129-204, total injured hostages = 783 (including special force) death - 25% total hostages

Manila
death = 8/15 = 54%
hostage taker 1

“the casualties were more severe?” Are you serious Mr. the Third? you mean 25%-30% is more severe than 50+%?

By the way, unlike the Philippines, Russia did not worry about tourism after the incidents.

For some reason, this is the only one-man hostage-taker who is allowed to stand at the step of the bus and wave to the crowd and NOT GET SHOT. He has no accomplice inside who will kill the hostages. Why didn't anybody shoot him there and then? Where are our snipers?

At the end, they threw tear gas and stormed the bus - without gas mask. the first policeman came out and said it hurt his eyes. REALLY! DUH! I wonder why (SARCASM). Next, somebody came in with a cloth mask, like the one worn by dentists. He also came wiping his eyes. DOUBLE DUH!!!

And to think this is just one gunman.
And we can't handle it?

Imagine if the the rebels decide to copy this in bigger numbers like what happened in Russia.

Naku Ha - September 2010

WHO TOOK OFF THEIR CLOTHES?

I was late for the “intimate” meeting at Casa Manila for the GMA-7 na mga artista. I arrived and I heard German Moreno explaining about somebody naghubad sa Mabuhay festival the day before. The five stars who were at Mabuhay were Wendell Ramos, John Nite, Mark Herras, Iza Calzado and German Moreno. My heart raced. Did I miss what we photographers call “the decisive moment?” I was long-driving in Michigan hitting one outlet mall after another the day before with my sister’s family. It was the day of the Mabuhay festival. Oh my God! Did Katrina Halili take off her clothes and I missed it? Then, I found out German was talking about Wendell Ramos. WHEW!

THIS IS CONSIDERED IMPORTANT!?!

Why German Moreno was explaining the shirt-taking is beyond me. Wendell removed his shirt off, that’s all. FYI, in 1991, Gwen Jacob was arrested for walking in a street in Guelph, Ontario while topless. She was acquitted in 1996 by the Ontario Court of Appeal on the basis that the act of being topless is not in itself a sexual act or indecent. Since then, the court ruling has been tested and upheld several times. Only later on did I find out that it was my good friend Mon Datol, of the Philippine Press Club of Ontario and publisher of Philippine Courier who asked about the undressing issue because he said that Toronto is a conservative place and children were in the audience and also some people approached him and complained. CONSERVATIVE?!? My friend Mon must be wearing an eye patch on both eyes or asleep to avoid seeing in newspapers or watching on TV before, during and after the Gay Pride parade where the “male” wrap their “private part” only with leather like a suman. They do not wear shorts or bikini but rather their “thing” is hanging in front in full view of everyone on the parade route, young or old. And my friend is claiming that some complain about a shirtless Wendell? Besides, as GMA’s Josh said, they have a roaming video camera to see reactions from the faces in the crowd if there is someone uncomfortable and he did not find any.

MY PROBLEM WITH WENDELL RAMOS

I speak, as president for life, of the PHPC - Pilipino Horny Press of Canada. It is not that Wendell took off his shirt. Our complaint is why Katrina Halili did not take her top off also, in the name of equality. Ehe, susmaryosep, Santa Maria.

Unidentified Author

Analyn D. Aryo wrote the book ‘Nanny Tales’ in 2007. She still works for a family in Markham and still enjoys her anonymity because her employers do not know she is an author. “There are some things I need to keep to myself,” she said in the article on page 2. If she wanted to keep to herself, she should not have used her real name, put her picture or even had her picture taken by the author Romeo Marquez. Hindi ba? Ako rin, author ng Quantum Physics for Dummies but I still work in the mailroom of an advertising agency. I did put my picture in the book jacket. But I do not want people to find out. Teka, magulo yata! Ehe.

LIKE MOTHER, LIKE SON

President Noynoy Aquino is running the country the way her late mother did when she became president. When Cory Aquino became president, she scrapped all project, plans, fired people, etc...in a bid to erase what Marcos did without thinking. Nobody stopped her because it was the popular thing to do. She scrapped the energy plans, including mothballing the Bataan Nuclear plant. Three years later, blackouts started happening and we are still experiencing it now. This is what PNoy is doing. In short, both mother and son are short of new ideas. People will grow tired of bashing Gloria and will start asking “what’s new” or “do you have any new plans to make our life better.”

OBSESSION WITH MAINSTREAM

The last Mabuhay festival advertised in subway cars as their press releases confirmed. How do you measure the success of such a strategy? SALES! Were there more people than last year? What is it with our obsession to attract the mainstream audience? Advertising in subway cars is not effective unless you can buy a lot of space and saturate all the space. If you are just putting 10 or less posters, it is not effective at all. That is like putting one ad poster for the whole of Toronto. We should not be trying to attract the mainstream audience but rather the mainstream advertisers. They are not the same. Advertisers pay the bills. I think we should get over this obsession with attracting mainstream audience.

iPorn Potential for iPad

The VCR received fast mainstream acceptance because of porn. If not for porn, the VCR would not have grown as fast as it did. Now, it seems that porn is embracing the ipad as a new gadget to show porn. If anybody needs a reason to buy the ipad, this is it. Ehe, susmaryosep, ano ba itong nasabi ko?

Fossil found in Cagayan

The bones of a prehistoric man has been found in Cagayan province. Archaeologists say this kind of man does not exist in the Philippines anymore. Akala ko pa naman, “it does not exist in the Philippine government anymore.” That would be the “Last Honest Man.” Biro lang po.

ONA IS TOO SIMPLE
President Aquino's state of the nation (SONA) address is too simple and appeals to the fairy-tale-loving nature of the Filipinos. Saying that there are two choices in running the government is too simple. He said we can either do what is good for the people or we can do what serves our interest. Too populist. Ika nga, it appeals to the heart, intended to get a standing ovation and nothing more. There are a lot of choices but making speeches is about making them sound simple. With the current state of the government, he can do what is good for the people and bankrupt the government or do what is painful to the people and save the government treasury. But he cannot say that. Aquino is a populist president.

BLAMING THE PAST
He refused to cut the pork barrel funds to reduce the deficit. Well, of course he will refuse it. How else will the senators pay for the expensive election? Some senators said that cutting the pork barrel will mean hardships for the people. Kalokohan iyan. By the way, pork barrel is an insulting term to refer to funds given to senators in particular districts used to build bridges and schools and other construction projects they see as necessary. usually, the construction companies that win these contracts are also owned by these politicians. If not owned, may share sila or may parte sila. Now, he is blaming the government of Arroyo of using all the funds for the year kaya kaunti na lang daw ang pera sa government. Another kalokohan iyan. It is the oldest trick in the book. Blame the predecessor so you have an excuse to break your election promises. It is done here in Canada also, but not too obvious dahil dito may paper trail kung saan pumupunta iyong pera.

ANOTHER FACT-FINDING GROUP
We already have the ombudsman. We have the Department of Justice. We already have the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) formed by former President Cory Aquino, the current president's mother to find out about the Marcos' hidden wealth. Now we have a Truth Commission (TC) to find out about supposed corruption under Arroyo's government. After Aquino's presidency, will the next president form a More Truthful Commission. Kung ako lang, mas maniniwala pa ako if the next president creates a Hocus-Focus Commission and honestly say that "I am creating this commission to give the impression that we are doing something when we are not." Hindi ba?

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH
What if the TC cannot find any corruption? Sa Pilipinas, maraming tao ang nasa TV, radio, newspapers, internet ang gumagawa ng accusations pero hindi naman pine-present sa court of law. Gusto lang kasi publicity. katulad ng mga nagrereklamo about the last election, they are all over the TV but they do not present it sa Comelec. Why? because they have no proof of their accusations. Some say that the election machines can be tampered with but they do not prove it. The explain the concept but they want someone to prove it for them. Marami talagang bugoy sa atin. As for the broadband bidding that was won by the Chinese government, accusers ahve never proven that Arroyo or anybody on her side took bribes from the Chinese government. The Chinese government denied bribe was paid and even said "do not include us in your circus."kapag nainis ang Chinese government sa atin, they just might use their power in HongKong and say, "deport all Filipinos and anD them from all work in HongKong." What will Noynoy do? Nothing except to beg China to take back the order becasue it will cause hardship to the Filipino families. TRANSLATION, it will cause hardship to the Philippine government dahil mawawalan ng remittance earnings.
